BioI dream of a peaceful, cooperative earth inhabited by loving, compassionate, low-impact humans in which we use our ingenuity and industriousness to capture our abundant renewable energy resources with appropriate technology and apply them toward creating a just, harmonious, beautiful society in which all colors, creeds and cultural diversity are honored and appreciated, and we collaborate around big ideas to promote freedom and joy in our thought and actions. If you would like to be there with me, and if you have the mojo to help me make it happen, and if you're not full of hoodoo, then I'd like you to be my friend.

I am resourceful, thorough and ebullient. I'm a Minnesotan through and through: cold-hardy and warm-hearted...friendly to the core; I like to talk about the weather. In my professional life, I have worked with diverse (and sometimes adversarial) nonprofit, business and government stakeholders to build innovative partnerships to develop solutions to Minnesota’s environmental problems. Collaboration is my passion. At this time, I choose to be an at-home parent to my fascinatingly quirky four-year-old son, though I will be in the market for gainful employment by the fall of 2006. Together with my husband, I sail Lake Superior. We are about to become boat-builders with a five-year plan to leave our current habitat and become world cruisers. I love to be outdoors; I feel most at home on (or in) water, on forest floor, or among snow. I am an endurance person; I am deliberate, and I do my best work when concentrating on one thing at a time. I have a little black box that cooks my food on sunny days, but in general, I don't believe in little black boxes. I am a student of macrobiotics; I buy my family's food almost exclusively at co-ops, except in the summer, when I get most of my produce from my CSA farmer. I am a lifelong learner; I attend lectures and conferences for fun, and I frequent my local libraries. I am an enthusiastic people-lover. I glimpse a sparkle of connectedness radiating from everyone; the concept of Ubuntu:* resonates deeply within me.

Ubuntu is a traditional African concept which focuses on people's allegiances and relations with each other. In Desmond Tutu's book No Future Without Forgiveness, he describes the concept of ubuntu:
"Ubuntu is very difficult to render into a Western language. It speaks of the very essence of being human. When we want to give high praise to someone we say, "Yu, u nobuntu"; "Hey, so-and-so has ubuntu." Then you are generous, you are hospitable, you are friendly and caring and compassionate. You share what you have. It is to say, "My humanity is caught up, is inextricably bound up, in yours." We belong in a bundle of life. We say, "A person is a person through other persons." It is not, "I think therefore I am." It says rather: "I am human because I belong. I participate, I share." A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed, or treated as if they were less than who they are."
